Island Business Design.
Island Business Design could have been Island Business Development.
But Design is much more appropriate.
We’re not here to apply some template of business development to your business. We’re here to design the business that is right for you, your passion, your customers, and your lifestyle.
So, do we develop businesses?
But we also do so much more.
If you’re ready to get real about what you want from your life and your business (because they’re not exclusive), then we’re here to help you design a business that will allow for you to do what you’re passionate about – professionally and personally. We’re here to make this fun.
Because if you’re not having fun, then what’s the point?
Hi. I’m Julie Daq.
I moved to Friday Harbor on San Juan Island in September of 2014, and now I joke about how I’ve been ruined for the “real world”.
Being from Texas originally, I had no idea there were islands off the coast of Washington until a serendipitous Google search one summer day when I was considering moving to the west coast. It was then I realized that there are whales out here and that I could live on an island (ummm, yes please!).
I booked a plane ticket for the fall, got rid of everything that wouldn’t fit in two suitcases, and have been here ever since!
I have found that the best things in life happen when you get out of your comfort zone and get scared (feel like you might throw-up? That’s not a bad thing!).
Getting out of my comfort zone has led me to make cross country moves twice to places I had never been, to spend two months in Kauai’i, to learn to sail, and soon it will once again lead me to purchasing and moving on to my own sailboat where I plan to do all kinds of exploring, sunset chasing, and stargazing around the islands, and maybe one day beyond (trust me, this definitely makes me feel like I’m going to throw-up… that’s how I know it’s exactly what I’m supposed to do!).
As for business, I’ve had the bug since well before I started my first business in 2010 (in fact, I had quite the love affair with all things office related since I was in elementary school). After starting and running my first business for several years I realized that I loved putting together new businesses, learning new strategies, creating memorable customer experiences, and learning all the geeky tech stuff too!
IBD + Me
That’s where IBD comes in… it gives me the ability to do everything I love (without having to start 364 businesses of my own) and help you to design the business of YOUR dreams (I’m all about the win-win!).
I absolutely love the fact that I get to work with local businesses on SJI and the surrounding islands, but I’m also glad that I’m able to work with other current and aspiring entrepreneurs all over the world (Again, it’s a win-win!)!
Until we meet again,
Serving the San Juan Islands & Beyond.
